JESUS PERFORMED MIRACLES
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great
salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed
unto us by them that heard Him; The
Bible: Hebrews 2:3
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and
wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to
His own will? Hebrews 2:4
Beginning at Cana of Galilee, Jesus performed at
least 35 recorded miracles. However,
John implies there were many other miracles that were not recorded.
And there are also many other things which Jesus
did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the
world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
John 21:25
All these miracles were performed to prove to man
that Jesus was and is the Christ.
…God also bearing them witness, both with signs and
wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to
His own will? Hebrews 2:3-4
Jesus never performed miracles just to show off His
power, but to bless and help needy mankind.
He showed His complete power over nature, sickness, death, and evil
spirits
A. Jesus power over nature. He showed His dominance over nature by
turning the water into wine. John 2: 1-11
When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water
that was made wine, and knew not whence it was (but the servants which drew the water knew) the
governor of the feast called the bridegroom, vs. 9
And said unto him, every man at the beginning does
set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse:
but thou has kept the good wine until now. Vs. 10
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of
Galilee, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on
Him. John 2:11
1. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by the draught of fishes. Luke 5:1-11
And Simon answering said unto Him, Master, we have
toiled all the night and have taken nothing: nevertheless at Your word I will
let down the net. Vs. 5
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great
multitude of fishes and their net brake.
Luke 5:6
2. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by stilling the storm. Matthew 8:23-27
And behold, there arose a tempest in the sea,
insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. V. 24
And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying
Lord, save us: we perish. Vs. 25
And He said unto them, why are you fearful, O you of
little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked
the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26
3. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by feeding the 5,000. Matthew 14:15-21
…But Jesus said unto them, they need not to depart;
you give them to eat. Vs. 16
And they say unto Him, we have here but five loaves
and two fishes. Vs. 17
And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the
grass, and took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven,
He blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples
to the multitude. Vs. 19
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took
up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. Vs. 20
And they that had eaten were about 5,000 men, beside
women and children. Matthew 14:21
4. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by feeding the 4,000. Matthew 15:32-38
Then Jesus called His disciples unto Him, and said,
I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three
days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way. Vs. 32
…Jesus said unto them, how many loves have you? And they said seven, and a few little fishes.
Vs. 34
And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and
gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to
the multitude. Vs. 36
And they did all eat, and were filled; and they took
up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. Vs. 37
And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside
women and children. Matthew 15:38
5. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by providing the temple tax money. Matthew 17:24-27
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that
received tribute or tax money came to Peter, and said, Does not your Master pay
tax? Vs. 24
And Peter said, yes, and when he was come into the
house, Jesus prevented him saying, what you think Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth take
custom, tribute or tax? Of their own children, or of strangers? Vs. 25
Peter said unto Jesus, of strangers. Jesus said unto him, then are the children
free, meaning they need not to pay tax.
Vs. 26
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go to
the sea Simon, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and
when you has opened his mouth, you shall find a piece of money: that take, and
give unto them for Me and you. Matthew
17:27
6. Jesus
showed His dominance over nature by cursing the fig tree. Matthew 21:19-22
And when He saw a fig tree in the way, He came to
it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, let no fruit
grow on thee henceforward forever. And
presently the fig tree withered away.
Vs. 19
Jesus answered and said unto His disciples, verily I
say unto you, if you have faith, and doubt not, you shall not only do this
which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, be
thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. Vs. 21
And all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer,
believing you shall receive. Matthew
21:22
B. Jesus
power over sickness. Most miracles Jesus
performed involved the healing of sick people.
These healings covered such varied illnesses as deafness and
dumbness. Matthew 15:29-31
…And great multitudes came unto Jesus, having with
them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them
down at Jesus feet; and He healed them.
Vs. 30
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw
the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to
see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:31
1. Jesus
showed His power over sickness. He
showed His power over a withered hand.
Matthew 12:9-13
And behold, there was a man which had his hand
withered. And they asked Him saying, is
it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day? That they might accuse Him. Vs. 10
And He said unto them, what man shall there be among
you that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day,
will he not lay hold on it and lift it out?
How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath
days. Vs. 11-12
Then he said to the man stretch forth your
hand. And he stretched it forth, and it
was restored whole, like as the other.
Matthew 12:13
2. Jesus
showed His power over leprosy. Matthew
8:2-4
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him,
saying, Lord, if it’s Your will, You can make me clean. And Jesus said unto him, saying, I will be
thou clean. And immediately his leprosy
was cleansed. Matthew 8:2-3
3. Jesus Christ
power of healing knew no distance barrier.
Luke 7:1-10
And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto
him, was sick, and ready to die. And
when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews, admonishing
Him that He would come and heal his servant.
Vs. 2-3
Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house,
the centurion sent friends to Him, saying unto Him, Lord trouble not Yourself:
for I am not worthy to come unto You: but say in a word, and my servant shall
be healed. Vs. 6
When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him,
and turned unto him about, and said unto the people that followed Him, I say
unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the
house, found the servant whole that had been sick. Luke 7:9-10
4. Jesus
could heal en masse as well as individually.
Luke 17:11-19
And as He entered into a certain village, there met
Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their
voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them, He said unto them, go
show yourselves unto the priests. And it
came to pass, that as they went, they were cleansed. Vs. 12-14
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed,
turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at
His feet giving Him thanks: and he was a
Samaritan. And Jesus answering said,
were there not ten cleansed? But where
are the nine? Vs. 15-17
There are not found that returned to give glory to
God save this stranger. And Jesus said
unto him, arise, go your way: your faith had made you whole. Luke 17:18-19
5. Jesus
could even heal an ear that had been severed by a sword.
And one of them smote the servant of the high
priest, and cut off his right ear. And
Jesus answered and said, you suffer this far.
And He touched his ear, and healed him.
Luke 22:49-51
Christ had power over any kind of disease or caused
by accident.
C. Jesus has
power over death. Three times Jesus
proved His power was greater than death.
1. The first
was the widow’s son of Nain. Luke
7:11-17
Now when He came nigh to the gate of the city,
behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she
was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion
on her, and said unto her, weep not. And
He came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And He said, Young man, I say unto you,
arise. And he that was dead sat up, and
began to speak. And He delivered him to
his mother. Luke 17:12-15
2. Another
incident involved the daughter of Jairus.
Luke 8:40-56
And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he
was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus feet, and besought Him
that He would come into his house: for he had one daughter, about twelve years
old, and she lay a dying. But as He went
the people thronged Him. Vs. 41-42
While He’s still speaking, there comes one from the
ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, your daughter is dead; trouble
not the Master. But when Jesus heard it,
He answered Him, saying, fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. Vs.
Luke 49:49-50
And when He came into the house, He suffered no man
to go in, save Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the
girl. And all wept, and bewailed her:
but Jesus said, wept no, she is not dead, but sleepeth. And He put them all out, and took her by the
hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
And her spirit came again and she arose straightway: and He commanded to
give her foods. Luke 8:51-55
3. The third
incident involved His friend Lazarus.
John 11:1-46
However Jesus spoke of Lazarus death: but they, His
disciples, thought that He had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then Jesus said to them plainly, Lazarus is
dead. And I am glad for your sakes that
I was not there, to the intent you may believe; nevertheless let us go unto
Him. Vs. 13-14
Jesus said, you take away the stone. Martha, the sister of Lazarus that was dead,
said unto Him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he had been dead for four
days. Jesus said unto her, said I not
unto you, that, if you would believe, you should see the glory of God? Vs. 39-40
Then they took away the stone from the place where
the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up
His eyes, and said Father, I thank You
that You have heard Me. And I knew that
You hear Me always, but because of the people which stand by I said it, that
they may believe that You has sent Me.
And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come
forth. Vs. 41-43
And Lazarus that was dead came forth, bound hand and
foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, loose him, and let him
go. Luke 11:44
4. These
Jesus raised: the widow’s son, the rulers daughter, and Lazarus His friend,
died again later. However, Jesus proved
Himself total victory over death, hell and the grave by His own
resurrection.
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become
the first-fruits of them that slept. 1
Corinthians 15:20
5. Because of
Jesus power over death, there is no more sting in death.
O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your
victory? The sting of death is sin; and
the strength of sin is the law. But
thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
D. Jesus
power over evil spirits. He who is all
powerful has total control over all evil spirits whether they manifest
themselves in insanity. Matthew 8:28-34
And when He was come to the other side into the
country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two possessed with devils, coming out
of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, what
have we to do with You, Jesus, thou Son of God?
Art You come here to torment us before the time? Vs. 28-29
…so the devils besought Him, saying, If You cast us
out, suffers us to go away with the herd of swine. And He said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into
the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a
steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. Matthew 8:31-32
1. Jesus
power over seizures. Matthew 17:14-20
Lord, have mercy on my son for he is lunatic, and
sore vexed: for often he falls into the fire, and oft into the water. Vs. 15
And Jesus rebuked the devil: and he departed out of
him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Matthew 17:18
2. Jesus
power over muteness.
As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a dumb
man possessed with a devil. And the
devil was cast out, the dumb spoke: and the multitudes saying, it was never so
seen in Israel. Matthew 9:32-33
Jesus is all powerful.
You have seen the power of Jesus, proving that He
was not only 100% Man, but 100% God! At
this very moment, whatever your circumstances is, whether you’re not feeling
well, financially indebted, the death of loved ones, suffering from heartaches
and being broken hearted, depressed and any other things that bothering your
mind right now, just only believe and you will receive as Jesus said, claim it
and say it, Lord Jesus, I’ve got what you said, by believing what I said, and
never entertains a doubt I will have it right now, in Your Mighty Name, I claim
it, amen!
Now, If at this moment,
you are still did not know the true nature of Christ as the Son of God, pls.
check amongst all people who shares about God, who amongst them rose from the
dead? No one, and no man, except Jesus,
right? This is why do not let this day
pass by without you, surrendering and giving your life to Jesus, for He said
and I quote, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believed in Me,
though he were dead, yet shall he live. John 11;25
“Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a
sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come
into my heart and life. I want to trust
and follow You as my Lord and Saviour.
In Your Name, amen.
